Chicago White Sox Trade Rumors: Team in holding pattern?

By Allan

Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen says the roster may be worth keeping around despite the trade rumors that have been circulating the team over the past few weeks.

‘What’s the [trade] deadline, July 31?” Guillen said Saturday. ”That’s a long time, that’s a long way. I said before we started this long homestand — counting the Cubs [at Wrigley Field], too, because we’re still in Chicago — we have to give [general manager] Kenny [Williams], [assistant GM] Rick [Hahn] and [chairman] Jerry [Reinsdorf] an idea of what kind of ballclub we have.

”If you’re going to ask me, I still believe. I see those guys every day. I talk to those guys every day. I say we have a chance. But if you look at the game from the stands, you look at the game from any part of the ballpark or listen to the radio, you’ve got different ideas than I have. I don’t blame those people. But I think we’ve got a pretty good team; we just don’t perform. Hopefully, we make Kenny change his mind.”

Last week the GM Ken Williams said “Some changes need to take place,” alluding to a possible dismantling of the team. Several players have been rumored to be on the trading block including A.J. Pierzynski, Paul Konerko, Bobby Jenks, J.J. Putz and Mark Buehrle. It remains to be seen if Williams keeps the team intact or has a fire sale soon.
