Carlos Zambrano Rumors: Could Cubs trade Big Z?

By Allan

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports says 29-year-old Chicago Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano is capable of winning 12-15 games a year and should be enough to trade him, but the team will need to eat a large portion of the $45 million left on his contract.

Rosenthal reminds us that the Chicago Cubs came out financially ahead when they traded Milton Bradley to the Seattle Mariners last winter.

If Zambrano can keep his cool then it’s possible that another team may want him. On Friday, Zambrano left after one inning of work and was eventually suspended for his tirade in the dugout.  Starting pitching is very valuable come trade deadline, and if the Cubs are definitely out of it in a few weeks, then the team may be able to get somebody to bite on Zambrano.
