According to Buster Olney of ESPN, the Los Angeles Angels have checked into the condition of free agent Carlos Delgado. The Angels are looking for a replacement for Kendry Morales who broke his leg last weekend after celebrating a walk-off grand slam.

Delgado is making his way back from hip surgery and Olney says he could be back within the next six weeks if all goes well.

Delgado played in 26 games for the Mets in 2009. Delgado was working hard this off-season with hopes of playing year.  He spent some time in Winter Ball, but the reviews from the scouts were not positive.  “He’s got no range at first — none. He actually limps out there. He can’t play first on a day-to-day basis. I think he can still DH, because he’s still got power. But to play first for a team like the Mets? Can’t see it.”
