Carl Crawford Rumors: Could Crawford land with the Texas Rangers next season?

By Allan

A rival executive to the Tampa Bay Rays says that Carl Crawford could end up with the Texas Rangers in 2011.

“Can you imagine the pressure they could put on teams with (Elvis) Andrus and Crawford at the top of the lineup?” the executive said.

The Rangers have a few decisions to make if they want to pursue Crawford. The team already has Josh Hamilton in left field, Julio Borbon in center field, Nelson Cruz in right field. Vladimir Guerrero, their DH, is a free agent at the end of the season so the team could find an opening with the vacant DH spot or they could trade one of their incumbent outfielder.

Earlier in April, we talked about Crawford being in the $12-14 million per season range, a figure that the Rays cannot afford. The Rangers would need to complete their ownership transfer if they are going to invest in a player that commands a large salary such as Crawford.
