Boston Red Sox Rumors: In the market for relief pitching?

By Allan

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports says the Boston Red Sox are churning through middle relievers and the team is eagerly awaiting right-handed pitcher Josh Beckett to return to the rotation. They expect him back by the end of the month.

When he comes back into the rotation, Tim Wakefield is expected to go back to bullpen.  However, this won’t necessarily solve their relief problems. The team may promote Michael Bowden or Felix Doubront from Triple-A and pitch them in relief.

GM Theo Epstein hates trading for relief pitchers, but Rosenthal expects them to be in the market come the July trade deadline.
