By Allan

6/10 16:29: The Orioles will interview Bobby Valentine for their open manager’s job on Friday, according to an industry source who told the The Baltimore Sun.

6/9 11:17: Dan Connolly of The Baltimore Sun says the Orioles are interviewing former Texas Rangers and New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine. The meeting will happen soon, maybe as early as Thursday or Friday or early next week.

Other managerial candidates on the Orioles’ list include former Cleveland Indians manager Eric Wedge. Wedge declined comment to The Baltimore Sun. Wedge said, “out of respect to everyone involved.”

Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail said, “We’re starting the process, sort of the vetting process. We’re not expecting anything soon. I’m not sure how the timetable is going to play out myself,” MacPhail said. “I’ve never been through one of these in-season. We’ll do our due diligence and work through it, but I’m not expecting anything quickly.”

The Orioles fired Dave Trembley last week. Trembley had a manager record of 187-282 in four seasons with the club. Juan Samuel is the current interim manager.
