Wilson Ramos Rumors: Should the Padres go after Twins catcher again?
By
The Minnesota Twins rookie replacement for the injured Joe Mauer is not doing too bad. Wilson Ramos is hitting .778 (7-for-9) in the two games that he’s played.
At some point the Twins will need to make a decision on Ramos. Mauer is locked into Minnesota for a long time (through 2018), so rather than let Ramos go to waste they’ll need to move him. But where?
The San Diego Padres looked into Ramos in addition to young outfielder Aaron Hicks and Ben Revere when the Twins’ closer, Joe Nathan, had season-ending surgery. The teams were considering a trade for Heath Bell at the time. Nathan’s current replacement, Jon Rauch is doing well with seven saves in eight opportunities while posting a 1-0 record with a 1.64 ERA.
Right now things are looking good for the Twins, but at some point they’ll need to figure out what to do with Ramos. If Ramos continues his consistency, right now is the time for the Twins to get maximum trade value.
