PRO Rumors: Strasburg promoted to Triple-A
ByWhat does a 1.64 ERA in five starts, 27 strikeouts in 22 innings and complete domination of Double-A ball get you? It gets you promoted to Triple-A.
The Washington Nationals promoted Stephen Strasburg, the 2009 No. 1 overall pick to Triple-A on Wednesday. He will make his debut for the Syracuse Chiefs on Friday against the Gwinnett Braves.
Strasburg was called up despite having the roughest outing of his young career on Sunday. He gave up six hits and four runs, three of them earned, in 4 2/3 innings against Altoona. He struck out four, walked three and hit a batter while throwing 49 of 79 pitches for strikes.
So with a Triple-A call up in the beginning of May, will Strasburg be promoted to the big leagues around June? Or will the Nationals wait until the trading deadline to see where they are in the standings?
