San Francisco Giants sign Pat Burrell to Minor League deal

By Allan

Pat BurrellAccording to Mychael Urban of CSNBayArea.com, the San Francisco Giants have signed former Tampa Bay Ray DH Pat Burrell to a Minor League contract. Burrell will join the Giant’s Triple-A affiliate in Fresno.

If Burrell joins the Giant’s 25-man roster, the Giants will owe him a little less than $300,000.

Hank Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle first reported the Giants and Burrell discussing a Minor League contract, at the time Schulman said it was not a done deal because Burrell had other options.

Burrell was designated for assignment by the Tampa Bay Rays in mid-May and cleared waivers last week. Burrell, 33, was hitting .202/.292/.333 in 24 games with the Rays
