According to T.R. Sullivan and Chris Cox of MLB.com
, the Texas Rangers will have interest in catcher Rod Barajas if the New York Mets look to move him.
Barajas is off to strong start with a .276 batting average, 10 home runs and 24 RBIs in his first 33 games. The Mets are not in selling mode, but they are in last place in the NL East. The Mets may not start selling off until much closer to the trading deadline in late July.
Barajas is signed to a one-year, $500,000 contract with another $1 million in performance bonuses – a salary that’s very attractive to the Texas Rangers.
