Mysterious incident causes Milton Bradley to be removed from Mariners game

By Allan

Update 5/6 00:41: Here’s a video of GM Jack Zduriencik on Milton Bradley’s plea for help:

Milton Bradley5/5 22:30: Bradley told his teammates that his issues have put him in a position where he can’t compete anymore and that “it’s been a long time coming.”

The Mariners are exploring roster options to possibly deactivate Bradley for a short time.

Bradley was at a school function with Wakamatsu, Ichiro Suzuki, Ken Griffey Jr. and Mike Sweeney where he talked about his motivation. During his five minute talk he became emotional and talked through “glistening eyes.”

5/5 21:00 : The tale of Milton Bradley has taken another odd turn. The Seattle Times is reporting that the Mariners announced that Milton Bradley will sit out at least the next few days to deal with what general manager Jack Zduriencik termed “some very personal and very emotional things in his life right now.”

Bradley addressed his team in a closed door meeting and explained that he had issues he had to work out. Zduriencik said the team is going to get Bradley the help he needs and give him time to get himself right.

Bradley’s agents are apparently on board with the whole thing.

“Milton, again, is very remorseful about some of the things that have happened in his recent past and feels very badly about it,” Zduriencik said. “But the fact that he has stood up and asked for us to help him is I think is an extremely important step for him as a young man. What’s important to us is that we help this young man become all that he can be. Help him to maybe get through something that is so difficult, many of us can’t even understand it.”

Well this is an improvement as he isn’t blaming the fans again for his problems.

5/5 04:30:Milton Bradley is at it again. Mariner’s manager Don Wakamatsu pulled his cleanup hitter after the sixth inning of Tuesday’s game where he was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. You have to wonder if there’s any buyer’s remorse from the Mariners.

According to the Associated Press, multiple Mariners said Bradley’s mindset late Tuesday was “not good.”

Ryan Divish of the Tacoma News Tribune, tweets “There is some thought that Bradley had an incident after the strikeout and then Wak(amatsu) decided to take him out.” There’s additional speculation that “incident” occurred after the strikeout.

Before Tuesday’s game, Bradley was hitting .224/.325/.388 with 2 home runs. Those aren’t the best numbers for your clean up hitter. Let’s see if this “incident” becomes public and if the Mariner’s will discipline the slugger.
