According to Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus (via ESPN Insider), the Minnesota Twins have a solid farm system with a history of producing big league performers and that could be used to land a big name player before the July trade deadline.

Goldstein says that Kevin Slowey and Nick Blackburn could be trade bait in July since last year’s first-round pick Kyle Gibson could be ready to pitch in the Major Leagues soon.

Should the Twins decide to pursue Cliff Lee, Jason A. Churchill of Prospect Insider says the Twins and Mariners are “the easiest two-team match to conceive at this stage.”
