Lance Berkman Trade Rumors: Mariners? Red Sox? White Sox?
By
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe talks about Lance Berkman and the possibilities if the Astros’ slugger waives his no-trade clause.
One Astros organizational person said, “He’d (Berkman) fit Boston like a fiddle. He’s got natural power to left and left-center. He works the count like they like and has always had a high on-base percentage.’’
Other than the no-trade clause standing in the way, there’s the remainder of Berkman’s $14.5 million salary for this season and a team option for 2011 that can be bought out for $2 million.
Cafardo goes on to say that the Mariners and White Sox could be candidates to use Berkman’s services.
On a side note, Cafardo adds that Jeremy Hermida would be good fit for the Mariners, but “it doesn’t appear the Red Sox would entertain any offer at this juncture.”
