Eric Byrnes Retirement Rumors: "I think this is the end"
By
“I think this is the end,” Eric Byrnes said in an interview with MLB.com on Wednesday. “You never say never, but I think this is it. Parts of 11 seasons, man — I gave everything I had to the game. I can look myself in the mirror and know that I gave it my all. I’m proud of that.”
The outfielder was released by the Seattle Mariners on Sunday evening. It was no surprise given his .107/.265/.179 in 28 plate appearances this season.
Two days after his release, he’s been hitting the golf course and started to play in a recreational softball league with his friends. He’s going to star for a a team sponsored by Dutch Goose, a burger and beer pub in Menlo Park, CA.
Byrnes plans to be “Mr. Mom for a while”, work in a clothing business he founded called bYRNt Organics and maybe dabble in television or radio again.
