5/19 19:20: Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune says the Cubs are interested in veteran right-handed pitcher Bob Howry.
Howry was waived by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. He posted a 1-0 record with a 10.67 ERA in 14 appearances with the D-backs.
The Cubs are searching for a right-handed middle reliever and Howry has been a favorite of GM Jim Hendry. Earlier today PRO Rumors said the Cubs have been actively looking to add a player to their bullpen.
The Cubs have been linked to Toronto’s Jason Frasor and Scott Downs and San Diego’s Heath Bell, but with both teams off to strong starts, it’s unlikely that those players will be moved anytime soon.
