According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, relief pitcher Drew Storen will join the Nationals in St. Louis on Monday night. Storen was the Nationals other first-round pick last year, selected 10th overall out of Stanford behind top-pick Stephen Strasburg.

While Strasburg has blown away the baseball world with a minor league tour de force, Storen has also been impressive, with a 1.23 ERA, .207 BAA, and 15:3 K/BB ratio between Double- and Triple-A. This is the next step toward that W: Strasburg, S: Storen line which the Nationals hope to see much of in coming seasons.

According to a source close to Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune, the Texas Rangers have inquired about the availability of White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski. But a lengthy delay in the sale of the Rangers has raised the question of whether they could take on the balance of Pierzynski’s $6.7 million salary, the source added.

Chicago White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen has said the White Sox “stuck and admitted that GM Ken Williams has the right to make changes if he deemed necessary.

Pierzynski, 33, can become a free agent after this season. Gonzales adds that Pierzynski’s poor start makes it difficult for the White Sox to receive full value in compensation. The Rangers have three young catchers in Max Ramirez, Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Taylor Teagarden, but none have emerged as a dependable starter. The team has gone with journeyman Matt Treanor as the starter.

The Associated Press says that a shirtless fan interupted the Seattle Mariners – Tampa Bay Rays game during the ninth inning. The man climbed out of the stands and ran into center field with stadium security and personnel in pursuit.

shirtless_fanThe AP says play was held up for 3 minutes, then resumed after the man was tackled and removed fromt eh field.

Rays manager Joe Maddon took the interruption as a sign of success for his team.

“It’s always a sign of having made it, in a sense, when you start getting streakers or semi-streakers during a game,” Maddon said. “I don’t think they streak at last-place teams’ games.”

By the way, the Rays won 3-2.

According to Jane Lee of MLB.com, the Oakland Athletics have designated Chad Gaudin for assignment. Gaudin was signed by the A’s on March 29.

The transaction came just one day after Gaudin allowed eight hits and five earned runs in just 2 2/3 innings against the Angels. In 12 relief appearances with the A’s, Gaudin posted the American League’s highest ERA among relievers (8.83).

Adrian GonzalezNick Cafardo of the Boston Globe says the Padres scouted the Boston Red Sox this weekend in Detroit, but he tells Red Sox fans to not get too excited about a possible Adrian Gonzalez deal yet.

Cafardo says, “according to a GM who has engaged in some inquiries on Gonzalez, it wouldn’t take more than a losing streak for the Padres to put him back on the burner.”

The Padres are currently 22-14 and in first place in the NL West by 1.5 games, so with the possibility for the team to win the division, Gonzalez could stay put.

“That topic has been such a distraction that it’s nice to be able to talk about something else for a change,’’ said Padres GM Jed Hoyer. “Every question we had to deal with was about Adrian. Now we don’t have to deal with that as much.

Hoyer said that if the Padres remain in contention in that very unstable division, he will be able to add at the trading deadline rather than sell off.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe Derrek Leesays that if the Cubs could move first baseman Derrek Lee, they would, according to multiple scouts.

So what’s the problem?

Lee is making $13 million in the final year of a five-year, $65 million contract. He’s 34-years-old, and he has a no-trade clause.

Lee is hitting .230/.340/.348 with 4 home runs in 2010.  You can see Lee’s statistics here.

Kelly JohnsonArizona may be in a position to trade one of their unexpected stars, Kelly Johnson. Nick Cafrado of the Boston Globe suggests that in order for the Diamondbacks to solve their “bullpen crisis” (7.37 ERA, worst in baseball), they may have to deal somebody like Johnson.

Johnson currently has 10 home runs and 21 RBIS. He signed a one-year, $2 million contract this Winter, so the D-Backs could have many perspective buyers.

The team could also trade catcher Chris Snyder, but that’s unlikely since Miguel Montero is out with a right knee injury.

Kevin CorreiaSan Diego Padres’ Kevin Correia took the loss in the 4-1 defeat to the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he believes that he has taken a forward step according to Tim Sullivan of the Union-Tribune columnist.

Correia’s youngest brother, Trevor Correia, 22, had a tragic fall on Santa Cruz Island off the Santa Barbara coastline in a hiking accident.

“I get on the mound and that’s where I’m most comfortable,” Correia said Saturday night. “It’s hard to distract me when I’m out there.”

Sullivan says that Correia did not have any outward signs of grief such as his brother’s name or initials on his cap nor did he point to the sky during the game.

Correia left the game in the sixth-inning and was greeted by a standing ovation as he entered the dugout.

PRO Rumors sends our condolences to the Correia family for their loss.
