Victor Martinez Contract Rumors: Still no word from Red Sox
By“Still nothing,” Red Sox catcher Victor Martinez said in regards to negotiating a new deal with the team.
In February, Martinez expressed his desire to re-sign with the Red Sox, but he wanted to have the extension completed before this season started. Martinez will make $7.7 million in 2010 can become a free agent after the end of the season.
“During the season, I really have enough to worry about, just playing the game,” Martinez said. “I don’t want any distractions.”
Martinez, 31, hit 23 home runs and 108 RBIs with the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox in 2009. You can see Martinez’s contract history and statistics here.
