Trade Rumors not distracting Brewers Corey Hart
ByMilwaukee Brewers outfielder Corey Hart has been performing poorly this Spring hitting .123 with 2 home runs and 5 RBIs. He’s probably going to be displaced from the starting line up by veteran Jim Edmonds. Because of his poor Spring and with a reliable outfielder in Edmonds, the Brewers could trade the struggling Hart.
“I wasn’t really worried about it until I realized they were worried about it,” Hart said. “I’ve had bad springs and good springs. Last year was my best spring and I didn’t really turn out. You can’t really worry about it. It’s tough, though.”
Anthony Witrado of the Journal Sentinel says that GM Doug Melvin has been shopping Hart with at least the Washington Nationals. The Nationals have discussed Hart since the team is looking for a right fielder to replace Elijah Dukes.
Hart said, “there’s always negative things around so you try not to worry about it so much. … I expect (to play opening day) but I don’t write the lineup so we’ll see.”
Hart, 28, is a career .273/.326/.470 hitter in 6 seasons with the Brewers. You can see Hart’s contract history and statistics here.
