According to Chris Jenkins of The San Diego Union-Tribune, the San Diego Padres have designed outfielder Chad Huffman for assignment. uffman was DFA’d in order to add veteran Matt Stairs to the 40-man roster.

In an unexpected move, the team re-called left-handed pitcher Cesar Ramos. Ramos had a 3.07 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings this Spring. The team requires Ramos because they expect to place Joe Thatcher on the disabled list with a sore shoulder.

The team also optioned left-handed pitcher Wade LeBlanc to Triple-A Portland and reassigned outfielder Chris Denorfia and catcher Chris Stewartto Minor League Camp.
