Bob Dutton of The Kansas City Star tweets that the Royals have designated right handed pitcher Roman Colon for assignment and purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Josh Rupe from Triple-A Omaha.

Colon, 30, was 0-0 in five appearances with the Royals this year. He had an 18.00 ERA in 2 innings pitched. You can see Colon’s statistics here.
