Roy Oswalt returns to Mississippi to help parents after tornado

By Allan

Roy OswaltHouston Astros pitcher Roy Oswalt has left the team to return to his native Mississippi to help his parents recover from damage caused by a tornado.

The Astros have said Oswalts’ parents, Billy and Jean, were not injured, and the pitcher will return to the team by Tuesday. He is not scheduled to pitch until next Thursday.

“He just wants to make sure everything is all right,” Wade said. “I told him to do whatever he needed to do. They lived in the house for over 40 years. He’s got a ranch that’s about 30 minutes away [in Kosciusko] that his parents can stay at, but 40 years worth of keepsakes and things like that, I’m sure it’s really tough on his family.”

The tornado moved across three Mississippi counties, killing two people and injuring several others.
