Rockies Rumors: Francis Headed to DL
ByAfter logging his best outing of the spring, Jeff Francis will head to the 15-day disabled list.
According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, Francis’ showed up to training camp today with severe soreness underneath his arm and discomfort which will keep him out of the rotation for the time being. With Francis out, Greg Smith will be moved into a starting role, and Joe Beimel becomes the most likely candidate to join the Rockies’ Opening Day squad.
Francis, 29, missed the entire 2009 season due to a torn labram. He’ll miss at least the first couple weeks of the season in 2010. In 2008, Francis was 4-10 in 24 starts with a 5.01 ERA with the Rockies. You can see Francis’ contract history and statistics here.
