Rays Kelly Shoppach out 4-6 weeks after right knee surgery
By4/19 14:20: Topkin adds that Shoppach completed his surgery already. Dr. Koco Eaton performed what the team said was “successful arthroscopic meniscus surgery on his right knee.”
4/19 14:15: Tampa Bay Rays catcher Kelly Shoppach will undergo surgery on his right knee according to Marc Topkin of the St. Petersburg Times. The catcher will be out between 4-6 weeks.
The Rays placed Shoppach on the 15-day disabled list last week due to a right knee sprain sustained on the weekend before. Dioner Navarro has replaced Shoppach as the Ray’s everyday catcher.
Shoppach, 30 later this month, was hitting .250 (2-for-8) in 4 games with the Rays before he sustained the injury. You can see Shoppach’s statistics here.
