• The Los Angeles Angels could trade catcher Mike Napoli. ESPN Los Angeles says that Napoli “might garner the most talent in return and moving him would save the angels $3.6 million in salary.” The Angels currently have three catchers on their roster: Napoli, Jeff Mathis and Bobby Wilson.
• John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle says that the agent of Oakland A’s catcher Kurt Suzuki has had no contact with the team regarding an extension to Suzuki’s contract, but the agent is open to hearing from the team.
• Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com says that Triple-A Norfolk outfielder Lou Montanez is on his way to the West Coast to join the Orioles. Felix Pie was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left rotator cuff strain.
