PRO Rumors: Brandon Webb, Curtis Granderson, Nick Adenhart, Fred Lewis
ByHere are your T.G.I.F. PRO Rumors
- Brandon Webb received a cortisone injection in his right shoulder on Wednesday and will rest a few days before resuming baseball activities. His return date is probably no earlier than the beginning of May at best. (Steve Gilbert, MLB.com)
- To no one’s surprise, Curtis Granderson of the Yankees will be the team’s Opening Day center fielder. Manager Joe Girardi made the announcement on Thursday. The Yankees explored the idea of playing Granderson in left field and having Brett Gardner play center. Gardner will now play left instead. (Associated Press)
- 23-year-old Andrew Thomas Gallow, the suspect in Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart wants a change in venue. Gallo had nearly triple the legal blood-alcohol level when his minivan ran a red light and crashed into the car occupied by Adenhart. (Associated Press)
- Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury says that San Francisco Giants’ outfielder Fred Lewis will probably head to the disabled list due to a sore left rib cage. Lewis is out of options, so this may be a tactic that the Giants are using to hold on to Lewis until they move another player or they trade Lewis.
