Orioles INF Robert Andino clears waivers and outrighted to Minors
ByBrittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports that infielder Robert Andino has cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk.
“You got to treat it as motivation, I’ll go down there and have fun- that’s it,” Andino said in a phone interview with MLB.com. “Of course it’s better to be in bigs and have fun but I’m not going to sit back and mope.”
Ghiroli says that the team’s trade for Julio Lugo left Andino as the odd man out and was designated for assignment as the team finalize their Opening Day roster.
“It’s really hard to get picked up on waivers this last in spring, half the team’s had their roster set,” Andino said. “Of course I’d like to be in the bigs, but everything happens for a reason.
Andino, 25, is a career .213/.264/.292 hitter. You can see his contract history and statistics here.
