Ike Davis rumors: Headed to Citi Field in the next day or two

By Allan

Ike Davis New York MetsMike Puma of The New York Times reports that rookie sluggers Ike Davis of the New York Mets “is likely headed to Citi Field in the next day or two.”
“He’s an exciting young talent,” manager Jerry Manuel said. “And we’ve witnessed some young talents do well here at the major-league level.”

The Mets were hoping Daniel Murphy would be the team’s full-time first baseman, but he strained a medial collateral ligament in his right knee during a rundown near the end of Spring Training.

The team also DFA’d first baseman Mike Jacobs on Sunday opening up a spot on the 40-man roster which presumably will be assigned to Davis.

Davis is hitting .364/.500/.636 with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs in Triple-A Buffalo.
