Did Blue Jays Adam Lind sign a bad deal?

By Allan

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports syas that rival agents and possibly the Player’s Union are not too happy with Adam Lind’s recent four-year, $18 million contract. Why? In addition to his four guaranteed years, he agreed to three club option years that cover his first three years of free agency through 2016.

“Three club options? The union hates those deals and understandably so,” one agent said. “He should have gotten those numbers without the options. The arbitration process rewards offensive production, and this kid is going to produce.”

From Lind’s perspective, he was have to get the financial security he wanted.

“It will mean a lot for my parents, for my future kids, just so they can do what they want and they can go to the schools that they want and they can breathe for the rest of their lives,” Lind said.

Lind, 26, hit .305 with 35 home runs and 114 RBIs in 2009. You can see Lind’s statistics here.
