Cardinals Rumors: Could Hank Blalock fit in St. Louis?

By Allan

Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch speculates that the Cardinals could make a move on a left-handed hitter with pop. The team has a history of “eleventh-hour spring training moves.”

Early on Wednesday we heard that Tampa Bay’s Hank Blalock would not accept an assignment to the Minor Leagues he did not make the team. You have to wonder if Blalock could be shipped to the Cardinals before the weekend is up.

The infielder/DH is hitting just .219 with 1 home run and 4 RBIs this Spring with the Rays.

Blalock, 29, hit 25 home runs in 2009 for the Texas Rangers, but had a .277 on-base percentage. You can see Blalock’s contract history and statistics here.
