3/26 11:38: According to Andrew Baggerly, the Giants and Wilson agreed to a two-year, $15 million contract extension. He’ll receive $6.5 million in 2011 and $8.5 million in 2012. His salary for 2010 will remain unchanged at $4.4 million.
3/25 23:40: According to CSNBayArea, the San Francisco Giants and closer Brian Wilson have agreed to a contract extension. The terms of the deal are unknown.
It’s safe to assume that the Giants are buying out the final two years of Wilson’s arbitration eligibility. The closer avoided arbitration this season by agreeing to $4.4 million contract.
Wilson, 28, was 4-6 with a 2.74 ERA with 38 saves in 2009. In the last two seasons, Wilson has accumulated 79 saves. You can see Wilson’s contract history and statistics here.
