According to a Kansas City Royals team press release, the Royals have claimed right-handed pitcher Gaby Heranandez off waivers from the Boston Red Sox. To make room for Hernandez, the Royals placed right-handed pitcher Henry Barrera on the 60-day disabled list.

Hernandez, 23, was claimed off of waivers by the Red Sox from the Seattle mariners in early February. He was 10-9 with a 5.23 ERA in 26 starts for Seattle’s AAA Minor League team (Tacoma) in 2009.
