PRO Rumors: Giants, Aubrey Huff, Angel Villalona, Tigers, Nate Robertson, Gerald Laird
ByGood morning! Here are your Monday morning links:
- Henry Schulman of The San Francisco Chronicle writes about the large number of first basemen the Giants have employed. In the 10 seasons, 2000-09, 27 different men started at least one game first base. Aubrey Huff is probably going to start Opening Day 2010. The Giants’ future – Angel Villalona, the 19-year-old phenom, is currently in the Dominican Republic under house arrest while authorities decide whether to charge him for murder in a nightclub shooting.
- Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com talks about Tigers’ pitcher Nate Robertson’s attempt to justify his $10 million that he’s owed this season. He want to prove to Detroit that he is worthy of being a reliable starter again.
- Catcher Gerald Laird is trying to rebound from a poor 2009 offensive season when he batted .225. He’s working with hitting coach Lloyd McClendon on a new batting stance. (Alden Gonzalez, MLB.com)
