PRO Rumors: Fielder, Brewers, Blue Jays, Dodgers, Yankees, Torre, Marlins, Dykstra

By Allan

Here your Thursday night PRO Rumors:

  • According to Tom Haudricout of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Milwaukee Brewers and Prince Fielder’s agent Scott Boras met yesterday to talk about a contract extension for the first baseman. “I heard it went good,” said Fielder. “If I knew (everything that was said), I’d be my own agent. “All I know is that Scott said they talked and everything was positive. I heard the talks were good. Now, they do whatever.”
  • Jordan Bastien of MLB.com says the Toronto Blue Jays claimed right-handed pitcher Casey Fien off of waivers from the Boston Red Sox. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Blue Jays placed Scott Richmond on the 60 day disabled list.
  • Ken Gurnick of MLB.com says the Los Angeles Dodgers have signed right-handed reliever Ricardo “Ricky” Rivas. Rivas was found at an open tryout at Camelback Ranch-Glendale. Rivas, 26, went 2-1 with a 4.82 ERA in 23 relief appearances last year for independent El Paso.
  • Jack Curry of The New York Times says that if the New York Yankees stay injury-free, Chad Gaudin and Sergio Mitre could be expendable. However, nobody has inquired about either of them.
  • According to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times, Dodgers manager Joe Torre and his agent are still speaking to the team about a contract extension. However, even if an agreement is reached, Torre may not manage in 2011.
  • Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post, talks about how the Florida Marlins warmed up with aluminum bats and crushed the ball before they played their exhibition game with the University of Miami.
  • The Wall Street Journal says that former Phillies and Mets star Lenny Dykstra, who last year filed for bankruptcy, is selling a year’s worth of investment advice for $999. The deal includes three weekly forecasts, a monthly conference call and a signed baseball. Dykstra is not a registered financial adviser or stock broker.
