Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post reports that the Florida Marlins have rewarded National Rookie of the Year Chris Coghlan with a $450,000 contract for 2010. This is $50,000 over the league minimum.

“I feel like they took care of me,” said Coghlan. “I’m excited about how it went down. I’m ready to move on and take on the next year.”

The Marlins signed six other players; pitcher Chris Volstad got $420,000 and catcher John Baker $415,000. Terms were not available for center fielder Cameron Maybin, outfielder Brett Carroll and pitchers Andrew Miller and Chris Leroux.
