3/2 13:40: Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton signed a $51 million contract extension with the Arizona Diamondbacks today. Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports first reported the likelihood of the deal. Ken Davidoff of Newsday first reported the contract details. Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported that the deal is for $51 million.
Upton, 22, had been speaking with the Diamondbacks about a contract extension over the past few weeks. Upton it .300 with 26 home runs and 86 RBIs for the Diamondbacks in 2009. You can see Uptons’ contract history and statistics here.
