Jose Reyes Rumors: Did Reyes take HGH?
ByMike Puma of The New York Post reports that Mets shortstop Jose Reyes was questioned by the FBI last week regarding treatment he received from Dr. Anthony Galea, a Canadian physician that is accused of supplying athletics with human growth hormones, HGH.
“They asked me if he injected me with [HGH] and I said no,” Reyes said before a Mets workout. “What we did there, basically he took my blood out, spun it in some machine and put it back in my leg.”
‘Man, what did I do wrong?’ ” Reyes said. “I was kind of surprised and scared, but after the interview they said there should be no problem with me.”
Other athletes with ties to Galea include former Mets first baseman Carlos Delgado and golfer Tiger Woods. Both athletes face charges related to the unapproved drug Actovegin. According to WebMD, Actovegin is drug that is sued to treat peripheral artery disease and strokes. WebMD says that it is potentially a performance enhancing drug.
Reyes, 26, is a career .286 hitter with a .337 on-base percentage and .435 slugging percentage. Hopefully those numbers came from his natural ability. You can see Reyes’ contract history and statistics here.
