Fredi Gonzalez Rumors: To manage the Braves in 2011?

By Allan

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald says that Marlins’ manager Fredi Gonzalez’s job could be in jeopardy if the team is below .500 come May or June. “They’re setting him up to replace him if they don’t get off to a fast start,” one team source said of ownership.

Jackson speculates that in the event that the Marlins fire Gonzalez he could end up managing the Braves next season. Current Braves’ manager Bobby Cox is set to retire after the 2010 season and Gonzalez could be an ideal replacement given this coaching past with Atlanta. Gonzalez’s contract with the Marlins expires after the 2011 season, so don’t expect him to jump ship unless he’s forced to do so.
