Hot off the PRO Rumors press…
The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed Garret Anderson to a minor league contract tweets Dylan Hernandez. Anderson will make a base salary of $550,00 plus incentives if he breaks camp with the club.
Looks like Anderson will compete with Brian Giles and Doug Mientkiewicz for a left handed pinch hitting role and with Giles for a fifth outfield spot. Anderson is a career .295 hitter with 285 home runs, 1,353 RBIs. He played his first 15 years with the Los Angeles Angels and spent last year with the Atlanta Braves. I would tend to think like Giles, if Anderson does not make the opening day roster he will probably hang the spikes up and call it a career unless he can catch on quickly with another team.
