Colorado Rockies Rumors: Solutions to closer, Jeff Francis, Ian Stewart and Clint Barmes
By AllanTroy E. Renck of the Denver Post talks about concerns the Colorado Rockies may be facing and he has a few solutions:
- Closer: The team fully supports Franklin Morales as Huston Streets‘ replacement. If Morales cannot close, then teammates believe that Matt Belisle will step into the ninth inning position.
- Jeff Francis: If Francis cannot prove to be effective, the Rockies may turn to left-handed pitcher Greg Smith. Smith may break camp as a long reliever and could step in if Francis proves to be inconsistent.
- Ian Stewart and Clint Barmes: Stewart and Barmes have enjoyed big springs, but when competitions start to improve their numbers in Arizona will mean nothing. An option for the Rockies will be Melvin Mora who can play both third base and second base.
