2/28: 16:32: Liz Watson, wife of home run leader Barry Bonds for 12 years, has filed for divorce in Los Angeles, according to the Associated Press. According to the report, Watson cited irreconcilable differences.
Watson and Bonds were married in 1998. Watson is seeking join custody of the couple’s 11-year-old daughter, Aisha.
Bonds is no stranger to divorces. In 1994, Bonds’ first marrage to Susann Margreth Branco ended in a highly publicized divorce.
Bonds was in the news in January when his 20-year-old son Nikolai, was charged with battery, false imprisonment, vandalism, making threats to an officer and obstructing an officer in the performance of duties. This stemmed from an argument with Branco where she accused her son’s friends of stealing jewelry. (Shaun Bishop, San Jose Mercury)
