Yorvit Torrealba Rumors: Mets shifting focus to Torrealba
ByUpdate 2/1 14:40: According to Buster Olney via Twitter: Yorvit Torrealba has a one-year offer from the Padres in hand, and would like to engage the Mets, but to this point the Mets have indicated they don’t have any money available to make something happen.
1/19: ESPN The Magazine’s Buster Olney Tweets that the New York Mets have shifted their focus to free agent catcher Yorvit Torrealba now that Bengie Molina has re-signed with the San Francisco Giants.
Torrealba turned down a two-year $5.6 million offer from the Colorado Rockies earlier this Winter. It was believed as late as last week that the Giants and Torrealba had mutual interest in a one-year agreement.
Torrealba, 31, had a batting average of .291 with 2 home runs and 31 RBIs in 64 games with the Rockies in 2009. You can see Torrealba’s contract history and statistics here.
