- Adam Rubin of The New York Daily News says the Mets may sign Joe Beimel (if he’s willing to accept approximately a one-year, $1 million contract) to complement the left-handed Pedro Feliciano.
- Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports says that Tim Lincecum pitched consistently at 93 mph in 2008, but in 2009 he pitched at 91 or 92 mph.

- Kevin Kernan of The New York Post says that Sandy Koufax gave advice to pitcher Oliver Perez, “You can’t control the ball unless you can control your body, and just trying to make that simpler.” Koufax wanted Perez to focus on firing his hips through first to get into a nice easy throwing motion and try not to do too much.
