Good morning! Here are a few PRO Rumors to follow on Thursday:
- Mike Puma of the New York Post says that Rod Barajas is not guaranteed the starting catcher position. The Mets currently have Omir Santos, Henry Blanco, Chris Coste, Shawn Riggans and Josh Thole on the roster.
- Mets manager Jerry Manuel can see the Mets pitching staff with both Japanese pitchers – Ryota Igarashi and Hisanori Takahashi on the roster. Mike Puma of the New York Post says that Igarashi is expected to be a right-handed setup guy and the Takahashi could be a left-handed swingman (starter, long reliever and lefty specialist).
- Kevin Kernan of The New York Post says that Jeff Francoeur’s swing “has never been more consistent and explosive.” Francoeur predicts that he will hit around 27 home runs while thinks David Wright will hit 35.
- Troy E. Renck of The Denver Post says Jason Giambi brings a positive effect to the Rockies’ locker room as well as a solid bat to the plate. General Manager Dan O’Dowd had to think twice before he re-signed Giambi since the team did not need another first baseman or another left-handed bat.
