Nationals and reliever Sean Burnett go to arbitration
ByThe Washington Nationals and reliever Sean Burnett went in front of a salary arbitration panel on Thursday in Tampa, Florida. Burnett is asking for $925,000 and the Nationals offered $775,000. A decision is expected on Friday.
Burnett did not comment on what was said during the hearing, but he said, “I learned a lesson. I don’t want to deal with it again.” He had wished that both sides had come to an agreement with the team before going to arbitration.
Burnett, 27, has career 8-9 record with a 4.35 ERA with the Pirates and Nationals. He was 1-1 with 3.20 ERA in 33 appearances with the team in 2009. You can see Burnett’s contract history and statistics here.
