Mets are close to a deal with Mike Jacobs

Update 2/10 05:04: Jerry Crasnick of ESPN says that Jacobs will receive an invitation to the Major League Spring Training on a non-guaranteed contract. Jacobs will compete for at-bats at first base or off the bench.
2/9: According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN, the New York Mets are close to a Minor League deal with free agent first baseman Mike Jacobs.
Jacobs, 30, played in 128 games with the Kansas City Royals in 2009 where he hit .228 with 19 home runs and drove in 61 RBIs. He played with the Mets in 2005. You can see Jacobs’ contract history and statistics here.
