According to a team press release, the Seattle Mariners have re-signed designated hitter Mike Sweeney to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Major League Spring Training.
“We are happy to invite Mike to Spring Training,” said GM Jack Zduriencik. “He was an integral part of the 2009 season and we look forward to him competing for a spot on the roster this season.”
In 74 games with the Mariners in 2009, Sweeney had a .299 batting average with 8 home runs and 34 RBIs. You can see Sweeney’s contract history and statistics here.
