Scott Merkin and Doug Miller of MLB.com reports that longtime White Sox star and slugger Frank Thomas is officially retiring.
The Big Hurt, 41, is retiring after 19 seasons with the White Sox, Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics. He was hoping for offers this season, but none materialized.
Thomas hit a total of 521 home runs (18th on the career list), 1704 RBIs and had a career batting average of .301. He won the American League Most Valuable Player Awards in 1993 and 1994. You can see Thomas’ contract history and statistics here.
