According to Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic, the Arizona Diamondbacks and right-handed pitcher Edwin Jackson have avoided salary arbitration and have agreed to a two-year, $13.35 million deal.
Jackson will receive an $800,000 signing bonus, $4.2 million in 2010 and $8.35 million in 2011. Had this gone to salary arbitration, Jackson was would have been fighting for $6.25 million while the Diamondbacks were offering $4.6 million.
Jackson, 26, was acquired from the Detroit Tigers in a three team trade that included the New York Yankees. The pitcher had a 13-9 record with a 3.62 ERA with the Detroit Tigers in 2009. You can see Jackson’s contract history and statistics here.
