Update 14:57: According to Jane Lee of MLB.com, the Athletics have designated INF Gregorio Petit to make room for Steve Tolleson on the 40 man roster.
2/1 12:39: According to Buster Olney of ESPN, the Athletics acquired infielder Adam Rosales and outfielder Willy Taveras from the Reds for infielder Aaron Miles and a player to be named later.

After the deal was completed, the Athletics immediately designated Taveras for assignment.
In another move, the Athletics also claimed infielder Steve Tolleson off waivers from the Twins. With the net gain of two players (Rosales and Tolleson) the Athletics have 41 players on their roster, so they are expected to make another move before the end of the day.
Rosales, 26, hit .213 with 4 home runs and 19 RBIs in 87 games with the Reds last season. You can see Rosales’ contract history and statistic here.
Taveras, 29, hit .240 with 1 home run and 15 RBIs in 102 games with the Reds last season. He was in the second and final year of his contract and had a base salary of $4 million for 2010. You can see Taveras’ contract history and statistics here.
Miles, 33, was acquired by the Athletics from the Cubs in December. Last year with Chicago, he hit .185 (29 for 157) in 74 games with the Cubs. You can see Miles’ contract history and statistics here.
