Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Washington Nationals have signed free-agent right-hander Tyler Walker to a contract pending a physical.
Walker will be the fourth addition to the National’s bullpen this off-season. He will join Matt Capps, Brian Bruney and Eddie Guardado to the re-hauled reliever corp.
Walker, 33, was 2-1 with a 3.06 ERA in 32 relief appearances for the Phillies last season. You can see Walker’s contract history and statistics here.
The Nationals also signed former Atlanta Braves left-hander Chuck James to Minor League contract. He will be expected to compete for one of the National’s rotation spots. In 2008, he was 2-5 with a 9.10 ERA in 7 games. He had his best season in 2006 with Braves when he wen 11-4 with a 3.78 ERA in 18 game starts. You can see James’ statistics here.
